Do you lose gold bars when Arthur dies?

I kept the gold bars, emerald and assumed the rest of the valuables would be there as well. You are supposed to be able to get them back. I was able to get the War Horse back for free, though others weren't able to get either DLC horse back. The year ended on Dec 31, 2018.
