How do I know Line Ranging is done?

Eye-judgement is what is used to Ranging. Above each end of the survey Line is a Ranging rod. The assistant folds the ranging rod vertically in the intermediate stations as the surveyor stands 2m beyond the range. The rod is held in Line by the thumb and fore- finger.
