What is an example of war?

The idea of Total War is that the enemy can best be defeated by attacking everything: soldiers, citizens, food, supplies, and more. Is there anything else you'd like to see? The Warfare conducted by ancient civilizations, such as Persia or Rome, and the modern Warfare conducted by the Nazis during World War II, are both good examples of Total Warfare.
