Why do Japanese say that?

The Japanese word for 'to speak' is 'Moshi Moshi'. Japanese culture has a long history of ghosts. The way to prove you were not a ghost was to say 'Moshi Moshi' twice. Apparently ghosts only say 'Moshi' once.
