The game DOES work normally on Windows 8.1, but if you don't mind not being able to use the mods from the workshop build, you can roll back to the pre-workshop build, it seems to fix the issues with Windows 10. The game is a great game and a load of fun (especially on coop), already had it on console but bought it again on PC for a better experience.
